On September 30, our university held the 2026 Freshman Military Training Review and Commendation Ceremony at the athletics field of the main campus. Representatives from the Armed Forces Department, the Student Affairs Department, the Academic Affairs Office and the Youth League Committee attended the ceremony, along with deputy secretaries of the Party committees of all colleges.
At the field, students from all colleges who participated in the training presented their training achievements one after another. Teams marched in unison with high morale, every movement was executed in perfect order, and their slogans echoed across the field, fully demonstrating the high-spirited, resolute and courageous character of HIE students.
Zhang Jun, commander of the military training regiment, read out the commendation decision. The ceremony presented awards to outstanding military training instructors, outstanding trainees and others.
Du Yue, a freshman representative from the college of Electrical and Information Engineering, expressed the determination to carry forward the spirit of fearing no hardship and overcoming difficulties, bring the resilient character forged in military training into study and life, strictly observe discipline, and strive for excellence. Tang Xucan, an instructor representative, urged the freshmen to carry forward the fine conduct cultivated through military training, keep their feet on the ground, turn their fighting spirit into momentum for growth, and embrace all challenges with youthful energy.
Ye Xianfeng, director of the Armed Forces Department, said that the military training was not only a tempering of will and physique but also a vivid lesson in “education on the history of revolution.” He hoped that the students would take military training as a foundation and always retain the original aspiration of self-discipline and self-improvement; take youth as wings to cultivate a character of responsibility and enterprise; take pride in the collective to deepen their commitment to unity and gratitude; integrate their youthful ideals into national development; walk the Long March of the new era as young people; live up to their university years; and strive to write a youthful answer sheet.
